Around Pyeongtaek: Skywalk Doorway Trail at Buraksan
After about a year and a half of being closed, my favorite trail on Buraksan has reopened: the Skywalk Doorway trail (하늘숲길).
Elevated walkways rise over 20 feet above the forest floor.
Nestled among the trees, this raised walkway lets you explore the forest from above, almost like stepping into a giant treehouse. The trail winds through shaded paths elevated more than 20 feet off the ground, and it’s both safe and exciting for kids and adults alike.

Along the way, you’ll find several different trail footings - like the clear bridge and the wooden stepping stones with different animal footprints! The experience is peaceful, refreshing, and a nice change from traditional hiking paths.
The Skywalk Doorway trail is a short adventure you can pair with a visit to other parts of Buraksan, making it perfect for a half-day outing. I’m a big advocate for spending as much time as possible outdoors, so you’ll catch me and my family walking to Prefer, grabbing coffee and treats and then hiking the Skywalk Doorway path to the playground on the weekends. (In fact, now that the path is finally open again, you won't catch me walking the sidewalk home - I’ll be taking this path as much as possible!) Pair it with a weekend playground day or a summer splash pad visit to make the most of your visit to Buraksan.
Walking through the Skywalk Doorway trail at Buraksan feels like stepping into a forest treehouse.
Whether you’re stationed nearby, living in Korea, or simply traveling through, it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors without a strenuous hike. You can hustle through the entire thing in about 5 minutes sans kids, but I highly recommend taking your time and enjoying the walk. Release your inner child and remember what it felt like to let your imagination run wild in a treehouse!

Shaded paths keep the trail cool and comfortable, even on warm days.
Wear comfortable walking shoes (no special gear needed).
Check the weather before you go—if it rains, the skywalk will be closed.
Bring water and snacks, especially if you plan to explore more of Buraksan.
The Skywalk Doorway is safe and kid-friendly, making it a perfect family hike in Korea.
If you’re looking for an easy yet unique outdoor experience in Pyeongtaek, the Skywalk Doorway trail at Buraksan is worth adding to your list. With its kid-friendly design and forest views, it is a fantastic way to enjoy nature in South Korea. And maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll spot the Korean vampire deer along the way!
